The Broncos can’t continually ask their defense to protect small totals. Los Angeles has enough offensive ability to create separation if Denver again spends most of the afternoon struggling to finish drives.
The positive is that divisional familiarity tends to keep these games competitive. Denver knows the Chargers well and should enter with a defensive plan capable of preventing Los Angeles from simply running away early.

Los Angeles Comes Home Looking to Rebound
The Chargers are 2-2 after consecutive losses, including Sunday’s 30-23 defeat in Seattle. Los Angeles has enough offensive production to move the football, but the Chargers haven’t consistently turned that production into wins.
Returning to SoFi Stadium should help. Denver’s offense hasn’t demonstrated that it can comfortably chase points, so Los Angeles can put significant pressure on the Broncos simply by getting ahead early.
Still, this isn’t a matchup where I’d want to lay an inflated number. Denver’s defense should keep the Broncos within striking distance for much of the afternoon.

I’m backing Los Angeles against the spread. Both teams are coming off losses, but the Chargers have shown considerably more offensive upside through the opening month. Denver managed only 14 points Sunday and now has to travel for another divisional road game. Los Angeles doesn’t need a dominant offensive performance to cover a reasonable number if the Broncos remain stuck around 17 to 20 points.
Pick: Under
The Under is my preferred total. Denver’s offense is the biggest reason. The Broncos scored only 14 at San Francisco, and their best route to an upset is slowing the game rather than trading touchdowns with Los Angeles. The Chargers should score enough to win, but Denver’s defense can keep the final score from getting out of control.
