Minnesota Wild vs Buffalo Sabres Picks and Predictions for Tuesday October 6 2026
The Minnesota Wild visit the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET. Minnesota has opened the season 2-0 and is coming off an impressive 4-1 victory over Boston, while Buffalo bounced back from a rough opener by beating Chicago 4-3 on Saturday. Minnesota Couldn’t Have Asked for Much More
Minnesota has looked sharp immediately. The Wild opened with a 3-1 victory over Nashville and followed it with a 4-1 win against Boston, giving them seven goals scored and only two allowed through the first two games.
What stands out isn’t simply the 2-0 record. Minnesota has won both games by multiple goals and hasn’t needed an offensive explosion to do it. The Wild have been able to get ahead, protect the middle of the ice and avoid giving opponents an easy route back into games.
Now comes the first real road test against a Buffalo team that found some offense Saturday. Minnesota doesn’t need to change much. If the Wild continue defending at anything close to their current level, Buffalo is going to have to work considerably harder for its chances than it did against Chicago.

Buffalo Responded After an Ugly Opener
The Sabres couldn’t have liked much about their opening 6-3 loss to Columbus. Allowing six goals immediately raised some familiar defensive concerns, but Buffalo at least responded with a 4-3 victory over Chicago on Saturday.
Seven goals scored in two games shows that Buffalo has enough offense to make games uncomfortable. The bigger question is at the other end, where nine goals have already gone in. That’s a dangerous problem against a Minnesota club that has been both efficient and disciplined.
Buffalo does get the home ice, and this is a useful early measuring-stick game. A win over a 2-0 Minnesota team would quickly change the tone surrounding the Sabres’ start. Until the defensive performance improves, however, they’re difficult to trust against a team playing this cleanly.
Minnesota Wild vs Buffalo Sabres Picks and Predictions
Pick: Minnesota Wild Moneyline
Minnesota is the side pick. Two games aren’t enough to make sweeping conclusions, but the Wild have given us something tangible to work with: consecutive multi-goal wins and only two goals allowed. Buffalo has already surrendered nine goals. Until those defensive trends change, Minnesota is the more trustworthy team.
Pick: Under 6 Goals
I’m going Under 6. Buffalo’s first two games have been high scoring, but Minnesota has dictated a completely different type of hockey. The Wild have allowed one goal in each game and have shown no need to chase offense once they’re ahead. If Minnesota controls the pace again, something in the 3-2 or 4-1 range makes sense.
Final Picks: Minnesota Wild Moneyline and Under 6 Goals
