Thursday gives Philadelphia a chance against an Ottawa team coming off a more open game, but the Flyers have to prove they can create enough offense before I’m ready to trust them on the road.

Ottawa Has the Better Overall Profile
Ottawa opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Toronto and followed with another strong performance before running into trouble defensively against Detroit. The Senators’ early results have still been considerably more encouraging than Philadelphia’s.
Ottawa also swept all three meetings with Philadelphia last season, with each game decided by one goal. That history suggests this may be closer than the records indicate, but it also reinforces Ottawa’s ability to consistently find a way against this opponent.
The Senators have some injury concerns defensively, so this isn’t a matchup where I’d want to lay a large price. With the moneyline close to even, however, home ice makes Ottawa the more attractive side.

I’m taking the Under 5.5. Philadelphia’s offense is the biggest reason. The Flyers have scored seven goals through four games and have been held to two or fewer in every contest. Their two competitive games both ended 3-2 in overtime. Ottawa should have enough offense to win, but something like 3-2 fits both Philadelphia’s recent results and the recent head-to-head history.
