Vegas Golden Knights vs Vancouver Canucks Picks and Predictions for Sunday October 4 2026
The Vegas Golden Knights visit the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET. This matchup brings together two teams whose opening-week games have featured plenty of offense and some significant defensive problems.
Vancouver’s first two games have already produced a remarkable amount of scoring. The Canucks were involved in a 9-7 loss to Edmonton on Thursday. Vegas, meanwhile, suffered its first loss Friday when Anaheim built a 4-0 lead before the Golden Knights rallied but ultimately fell 4-3.
Vancouver also plays Calgary on Saturday, putting the Canucks on the second half of a back-to-back Sunday.

Vegas Looks to Fix Its Slow Start
Vegas nearly completed a remarkable comeback Friday, but falling behind Anaheim 4-0 proved too much to overcome. The Golden Knights scored three times in the third period and had an opportunity to force overtime before the Ducks held on.
The comeback is encouraging. The first half of the game isn’t. A team with Vegas’ expectations can’t routinely spot opponents multi-goal advantages and expect late rallies to solve the problem.
Sunday gives the Golden Knights a chance to respond against a Vancouver team that has already demonstrated serious defensive vulnerability. If Vegas carries its third-period urgency from Friday into the opening period Sunday, the matchup could look considerably different.
Vancouver’s Defense Faces Another Major Test
Vancouver’s 9-7 loss against Edmonton was one of the wildest games of the opening week. Scoring seven and losing tells you almost everything about the Canucks’ early profile.
The offense clearly has life. Seven goals against Edmonton demonstrates Vancouver can capitalize when a game opens up. The problem is that allowing nine makes almost any offensive production meaningless.
The schedule makes Sunday’s matchup even more difficult. Vancouver has Calgary Saturday before turning around to face Vegas. After already participating in such a high-event game against Edmonton, managing energy and defensive structure becomes especially important.
Vegas Golden Knights vs Vancouver Canucks Picks and Predictions
Pick: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline
Vegas’ loss to Anaheim doesn’t scare me away from the Golden Knights here. They nearly erased a four-goal deficit and now face a Vancouver team that surrendered nine to Edmonton and plays Saturday. Vegas should have opportunities to generate sustained offensive pressure against the Canucks, and the rest advantage becomes increasingly meaningful as the game progresses. I’ll take the Golden Knights to win on the road.
Pick: Over 6.5 Goals
Until Vancouver shows it can slow opponents down, the over deserves serious consideration. The Canucks’ 9-7 loss to Edmonton produced 16 goals, while Vegas’ loss to Anaheim produced seven. Vegas showed considerable offensive life during its third-period comeback Friday, and Vancouver has already demonstrated it can contribute substantially to the scoreboard itself. Over 6.5 is the play.
Final Picks: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline and Over 6.5 Goals
